NINE SCHOLARSHIPS IN GERMANY: FIRST STEPS OF THE PROCESS

While undergraduate tuition fees in public universities are free for international students.If you want to do a master’s degree or a doctorate, you will have to pay the registration fees. However, there are more scholarships for international students interested in continuing their higher education in Germany through the Government, non-governmental institutions, and universities.  

Here are nine scholarships to start:

 Government-funded

 Every year, the German government gives a certain amount of money for scholarships of international students who begin their studies in the country.

 1. DAAD Scholarships

 The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers the widest range of scholarships funded by the Government at different levels. It also has an easy-to-use database to get a scholarship, click here

 2. Erasmus +

 If you are European, you can apply for an Erasmus + scholarship. Funded by the European Commission, Erasmus + offers financing to cover living costs during an exchange program in Europe.  Funded by non-governmental institutions

There are a number of scholarships funded by non-governmental institutions also available to international students. These scholarships are awarded for merit to students who do various research and academic courses.

1. Heinrich Boll Scholarships for International Students

 Both national and international students are entitled to undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral scholarships with the Heinrich Boll Foundation. There are two application dates during the year. Apply online now, click here!

2. Deutschland Stipendium

 International students with a very good grade point average can qualify for € 300 per month financing through this program. On the basis of a public-private partnership, companies, organizations, and individuals sponsor talented students from € 150 per month which then correspond to other Government funds. 3. Kurt Hansen Science Scholarships

 International students who plan to become science educators can apply for this scholarship, which is funded by the Bayer Foundation. The funding areas available include

  • study projects,
  • internships,
  • summer courses,
  • preparatory and complementary courses, and
  • teacher training.

 Scholarships form specific universities

 Like most major study places, a number of renowned German universities offer their own scholarships. We pick the four.

1. Frankfurt School of Finance & Management Doctoral Tuition Waivers

Each year the Frankfurt awards grant ten exemptions of tuition payment to doctoral students who are studying an

  • English program in Finance,
  • Accounting,
  • Mathematics, and
  • Business Administration.

 4. DRD Scholarships for Sub-Saharan Africans
